Nikon D60 USB malfunctioned. Cannot transfer images from camera to computer?

I have a Nikon D60. I am done installing all the neccessary drivers and whatnot. When I plug in the USB provided, the computer says that the USB ‘malfunctioned’ (it’s practically brand new, the damn thing) and that the computer cannot recognise it. Any suggestions on what to do? Any help at all would be very much appreciated.
I have also tried replacing the USB but to no avail. I’m pretty sure it’s not the USB that is the problem and the camera seems to be alright.

re install the software bundle of D60 in u r computer and then try again, u computer may need a os upgrade, if u already use an updated version like xp,vista (for windows) buy an external card reader and use ur (SD\MMC\SDHC) card.
