Canon 570 IS vs. SD1000?
Hello, I am looking to buy an new camera for my trip to Ireland next month. I think I have it narrowed down to these two. I really like the features of the 570 IS and the fact that it takes AAs since charging something will be an issue. It is also cheaper. I really like the look and form factor of the SD1000. I was wondering what people’s opinion were on the two camera and which would be better for Ireland. Thanks!
The A570 IS is a better choice, even though it’s not as small and cool looking as the SD1000. Here’s why the A570 IS is better:
1) Uses easy to find AA batteries or AA rechargeables.
2) 4x zoom instead of the 3x zoom of the SD1000
3) Has image stabilization–a big feature to help you get sharper shots. The SD1000 does not have optical image stabilization.
4) More exposure options/controls with the A570 IS (i.e. you can shoot manual exposure if you need to).
In short, the only reason the buy the SD1000 is for the look/form factor. For taking photos, the A570 IS is a better option.
