Sony Cyber-shot DSC-W55 or Canon PowerShot A560?
I can’t decide between the two! I’ve scoured the Net searching for reviews, and they’re so mixed. I’ve listed the pros and cons of each (e.g., the Canon has 4x optical zoom vs. the Sony’s 3; the Sony is smaller and faster; etc.), but I still can’t decide, and they both cost about $200 each.
I definitely like the Sony’s look, size, and speed (supposedly the Canon is slow when using the flash), but the Canon has that extra 1x zoom, uses different and less expensive memory cards, and runs on AA batteries (which I like better than having to order Sony’s battery if the Sony rechargeable dies). Anybody own either or both of them? Any suggestions would be appreciated!
I agree with you on the Canon. Extra zoom, uses memory card, and uses regular AA or rechargeable AA batteries.
Maybe consider throwing this into the mix. The Canon PowerShot A630 (8mp, 4x zoom). My favorite feature of this model is the vari-angle (flip and twist) display/LCD screen. It protects the screen when not in use, and helpful for odd angle shots. Especially if you want to take a picture of yourself, or yourself with others. Picture taking is instant! Here is where I go to shop on-line for the best price for digital cameras. (Which I found to have considerable better prices than going locally to your nearest digital camera dealer). The A630 was $300.00 a year ago. Now it’s under $200.00 on line. Also check if the camera is being sold ‘new’ or ‘refurbished’.
If you’d rather buy from the store, check the usual places, Best Buy, Circuit City, Wal-Mart, Target, and camera stores. Even consider Office Max, Office Depot, CostCo/Sam’s Club—any store with a camera department.
