The only one that caught my attention was the 3rd one in your collection from flickr. Just like the other post said: work on your composition. That picture would of looked a whole lot better if it was on the eyes having the light on the subject. I think, if I can remember from AiC (Art Institute of Colorado in Denver) they taught us the 4 sector or 4 box rule. Basically draw the subject into 4 quadrants in the viewfinder and just “crop” it. But more practice and better equipment.

Out of the three the Canon A1000 IS is the best. It is hard to find this camera for good price because it has been discontinued by Canon. The best price I could find is about $152.00 for the blue body. Take a look at the first link below.

If you are willing to consider other makes and models, you might want to take a look at the Samsung TL9, it is a gorgeous camera (nice retro style design) with a lot of features for a great price.
