Panasonic Lumix DMC-TS2 or Olympus Stylus Tough-8010?

I would like to buy waterproof camera and I am in dilemma between PANASONIC LUMIX DMC-TS2 and OLYMPUS STYLUS TOUGH-8010. Please tell me which one do you find better and why.

What kind of digital camera should I get?

I really want to get a Canon Xti, which I’ve seen for about $600 with a lens kit. However, I don’t know if a nice, small point and shoot camera will serve me just as well. I want to take really good pictures, but I know nothing about taking good photos, so I really don’t know if its worth it. I’m going to Tokyo for the first time and want take a ton of pics. Should I spring for the $600 camera or get a cheaper one (I’m assuming it won’t be that much cheaper though).

If you really want to make your trip memorable, get the XTi. I believe Canon is coming out with a Rebel XSi which uses an SD memory card rather than a CompactFlash card. XTi’s are AMAZING cameras fort people who are first using SLR cameras, which are Single Lens Reflex cameras. A point and shoot will do you good, but if you are going to be touring on a car or something of that sort, you should really consider getting a SLR camera. Consider investing in some zoom lenses and some wide angle lenses so you can really capture the essence of Tokyo.

I need to learn to river fish in a week!!?

I am going on the Norfolk Broads for a week on a boat, & promised my daughter we’d fish! I’ve been told a pole & sweetcorn? But what do I do with that?! Apart from the obvious!! Doesn’t matter if we do not catch anything, but at least want to try, for my little girls sake.

Forget the pole, that’s for experienced anglers and then they have to be a glutton for punishment.

Go to your nearest tackle shop. Tell the guy what’s happening, and that you want something cheap and easy. Most stores have starter kits ideal for kids. If not he’ll sort something out and advise on baits that you won’t find distateful. That really is the best thing. One thing about tackle store owners, they are always friendly and real helpful.

Good luck, you’ll have great fun, and even more if you catch something. I’ll never forget the first time I caught something when my daughter was with me. She was just so excited

EDIT:- Oh dear, so many answers from USA, guess they don’t know where the Norfolk Broads are, LOL. So ignore their answers. You don’t need lures or anything like that. In the Broads, maggots would be better then worm, especially if you just want to be sure you catch something. Lot’s of non fishermen don’t like using maggots and putting them on the hook. Also you need a licence which you will get from the tackle shop as well.
