is the canon powershot A570IS a good digicam to buy?

can u pls give me some tips and review about it. what other digicams can u recommend? how about panasonic lumix and casio exilim? help!

TomTom, who knows as much about this market as anyone I know, bought himself an A570-IS after getting his first thousand “Best Answer” selections here. I’d trust that as a good endorsement. I’ve seen some of his photos and they speak well of Tom as a photographer and of the A570-IS as a camera. He may pick up this question and tell you more, but in case he doesn’t and in case you have not seen this, here’s a review for you:

canon powershot ds1000 review

Any advice on purchasing a Digital SLR?

I’ve been looking into purchasing a DSLR camera for the past couple of years. I really enjoy photography and want to take this hobby to the next level. I have been researching which DSLRs are best for my “main photographic needs,” which would be action shots and landscapes/travel. Although I have been reading up on this topic for quite some time, scanning reviews and online retailers, I’d also appreciate some personal recommendations.

I’ve got a Canon PowerShot DS1000 that I have been beyond satisfied with, and I’d really like to stay in the Canon family. So far, my eye has been on the Canon EOS Digital Rebel T1i 15.1-Megapixel camera.

Does anyone have any recommendations for me? Spending over $1,000 isn’t something I’m really looking to do – over time, with lens purchases, sure, but not immediately. If you have any advice on really any brand of DSLR that you’ve had good experiences with, I’d really appreciate it!

I would go with one of the higher end Canon Rebel DSLR cameras, either the Canon Rebel T1i (500D) or the Canon Rebel T2i (550D). My main reason is that they have greater high ISO ability over the other 2 Rebel models.

Below are some website links, the 1st link is to a side by side page that lists the features and specs of the 2 cameras and has links to camera reviews that includes sample images from the cameras.

The other 3 links are to seller websites but also provide customer reviews of equipment which can be very informative.

Hope this helps.

is this canon camera any good?

IS THIS CAMERA GOOD FOR EVERYDAY PICTURE TAKING?

http://www.circuitcity.com/ssm/Customer-reviews-for-Canon-PowerShot-SX100-IS-8-Megapixel-Digital-Camera-Black/sem/rpsm/oid/192194/callingModule/9/pageno/3/sortby/1/order/D/rpem/ccd/ExpandedModule.do#custRatings

Yes it is. The only thing I don’t really like is the lack of an optical viewfinder, but so it goes with many cameras these days. At least it has image stabilization to help you when you have to hold the camera out in front of you.

The only similar comparison in the Canon line would be the S5-IS, but it costs over $100 more.
