Nikon 70-200mm f2.8 VRII – Field Test and Hands-on Review – DigitalRev.com
I enjoy taking pictures without flash in low light, as for weddings and churches. I'm an amateur users advanced. Should I buy a fixed focal length lens like a f2.8 or f4? The fixed-length lenses faster than virtual reality?
The 18-200 is a great all-in-one lens, but not really suitable for low light situations. VR lenses do not reduce the shutter time. Instead, let you take pictures of the hand the shutter is relatively long. See the RV as a substitute for a tripod. This is appropriate within the churches of photographs, but does not really help if you are focused in people. Everyone who moves / contractions during the shutter is open is still blurry and the shutter is open, the probability of that happening. To hold down the shutter time, you will need larger apertures. A zoom of 2.8 is twice as fast as f / 4 and four times faster than 5.6. If this Not good enough, first 1.4 is 8x faster than the f / 4 and 16x faster than f/5.6. These are the lenses that work is done. I am a photographer fan, but I regularly shoot churches and other places with low light. I use a D200, a Nikon 17-55mm f/2.8 and a Nikon 50 mm f / 1,4. With ISO 800 (the line up to ISO 3200, but image quality suffers) that can zoom 2.8 … but 50 mm was useful on several occasions. You can look at the Nikon 17-55mm f / 2.8 (1,200 dollars), 70-200mm f/2.8 ($ 1,600), 50 mm f / 1.4 or 1.8, 85 mm f / 1.4 or 1.8 and Sigma 30mm f/1.4 ($ 500). If you do much photography low light, maybe get the 18-200 and get a 50mm f/1.4 AF as an emergency backup for about $ 200 used.
