Panasonic PV-GS320 Camcorder to MacBook Pro? (without firewire)?

My DV camcorder worked wonderfully for me on our last MacBook with the FireWire cable we had, but I recently found out that our new MacBook pro does not have a FireWire port. Is there a way to import my videos through USB, or from the A/V port on my camera? Maybe even a FireWire adapter?
I’m sorry, I’m on crack. You’re right that there is firewire in my macbook pro. It’s just not one I recognize. Thanks!

The new MacBook Pro does so have a Firewire port. It is a Firewire 800 port – not Firewire 400 of older Macs.

You just need a new Firewire cable that is 4-pin to 9-pin to replace the firewire cable you have (that is 4-pin to 6-pin).

The only Macs without a firewire port are the MacBooks made between October, 2008 and June, 2009… and the MacBook Air.

Importing DV quality video will not work over USB (iMovie and FinalCut won’t even recognize that port for video importing). Using the AV port from the camcorder will require you to get an Analog/Digital converter – preferably from Canopus – but they connect using firewire, so you don’t need it (unless you are converting video from a real analog source like a VCR).
