What could be causing my nikon battery not to charge?
I bought a nikon d-40 about 1 month ago, and everything was working perfectly. I am in europe now, and have a power plug adapter (only changes the prongs but not the voltage) and the battery will not charge (the led light on the charger doesnt even light up) the charger says it accepts imput 100-240v ~50/60 Hz. Shouldnt that work in europe (spain)? I bought a universal charger to charge my battery after i realized that it wasnt working, and at first the led said that it was charging.. but once it said “charged” It had only charged very little (enough to take 30 pictures) now, the battery is so low the camera wont even power on, but the charger says it is charged, and it wont charge any more..
I am pretty sure Europe is 220-240 and I hope you have not burned out your charger and battery. I think you need to get a voltage transformer but it could be that the Nikon charger is dual voltage. I’ll see what I can find out.

Added: OK I tried the Nikon USA site and found nothing so next I went to Nikonians and here is what they said there
All Nikon chargers are compatible with voltage worldwide but you will need a different power cord
So if that is the case you may need to check the adapter and then check the battery contacts to make sure they are clean and making good contact. I am sorry I do not know what else to offer … good luck
