Does a *Sony* Camera need a *Sony* Memory Stick Pro Duo?
Hello, thanks for regarding this question.
I just today purchased a Sony Digital Camera (DSC-W180/W190) and of course the purchase did not include the Memory Stick. According to the manual, my camera is compatible with Memory Stick PRO Duo, or Memory Stick PRO-HG Duo…
My question is, do I have to buy a Sony Memory Stick Pro Duo? Because I know of other brands, like Sandisk or Lexar, whom also provide Memory Stick Pro Duo.
Does my camera only work with Sony Memory Stick Pro Duo specifically? Or can I bargain and buy a cheaper brand?
Memory Stick is never cheap to begin with, no matter the brand.
But yes, you can use those from Sandisk as long as it’s a Memory Stick, and make sure it’s genuine product since there’s too many fake Memory Sticks out there, Sony or Sandisk.
Sandisk and Lexar isn’t exactly “cheaper brands”, in fact, they are the leaders and profesioinals who depends on memory cards use them. I consider them the best.
Just buy from reliable source, don’t get tempted at a very good deal or something, if it’s too good to be true, it probably is. I can’t stress this enough because there’s just too many fakes!
