Stiff pop-up flash on Canon 400-D?
The pop up flash has recently stopped popping up.
It is normally very bouncy, but now it is too stiff for the spring to move it. However it is loose enough to easily move up and down with my finger. I can move it into any angle on its 90 degree path and it will stay.
When i move it, its not a completely clean feeling, i can feel a very very slight friction/scraping, i take a few photos on boats, maybe the hinge/or the spring is corroded?!
A workaround is to half press the shutter button (in a location that actually requires a flash) , then quickly (while the catch is released) pull it up with my fingers before the ‘flash obstructed’ error message appears!
I have had the camera 2 years now, warranty has run out and as a student cannot afford a £150 service i have looked into. I dont really want to buy a proper flash.
Does anyone have any suggestions as to what i do, any cleaning ideas?
