52mm nikon filter

Confused as to what a filter thread is?
I have a nikon D3000 and a 18-55 mm lens. On ebay, a lot of the lens filters and fisheye attachments say things like “This filter fits any Lens, Conversion Lens, Adapter Tube, etc with 52mm front threads for filter attachment.” I am so confused, what does it mean by front thread? would my front thread be 55mm? :S
and would this fit my lens? http://cgi.ebay.com.au/42x-Wide-Macro-Fisheye-lens-NIKON-d40x-D3000-D5000-/260599379704?cmd=ViewItem&pt=Camera_Lenses&hash=item3caceef6f8#ht_4859wt_989
It says it will, but i’m not entirely trusting.
Thanks heaps
One class in photography could remove all confusion.
And don’t be surprised when the “fisheye” converter isn’t. A fisheye lens by design has an angle of view of 180 degrees. In other words, if you were to be looking through the viewfinder, straight ahead, you would see your feet too.
Most of these “add-on” lenses only distort the image and make it look the way a fisheye looks.
Good luck, but I would suggest you to into an actual camera store and try one out before spending nearly $60 AUD.
The eBay advert calls it a “hi-res professional”. If that were true, why do you think a professional photographer would spend $1,000 USD on a true fisheye instead of under $100 for the one in the link?
