close nikon coolpix s220
i have a camera question?
i am saving up for a new camera with a very good zoom. i have one with 5.1 megapixels and 3x optical zoom. my mom has an excellent camera with 10x optical zoom and 8 megapixels. i found a cool one with 3x optical 4x digital 12x total zoom and 10 megapixels. is this close to the greatness of the camera my mom has or is it better?

Ignore digital zoom completely. If you want zoom, go with the super opticals rather than one that stretches pixels by using digital zoom. You can get better results by cropping your image in post-processing. Canon and Nikon both make such 10x optical zoom models. Check out models and specifications at www.dpreview.com.
