Why choose a Canon EOS Rebel on a Nikon D50 (or vice versa)?

Trying to get a "real world" answer is why a person chooses a low-cost digital SLR in another.

I think most digital SLR cameras that offer comparable image quality 6-8 megapixel range. I would like to make a choice based primarily on how the camera feels in your hands if you have. If it is uncomfortable to celebrate, not going to want to take with you and use it.
