s220 nikon review

Does anyone have a review on the Nikon S220?

I just purchased this camera and when I take the pictures they look grainy on the display screen….will the pictures look like that when I upload them to the computer? And does anyone have another review or comment on this camera? Thank You!!

What you are calling “grainy” is really the noise generated when shooting at high ISO settings. Since the more advanced, under $150 P&S cameras include auto “ISO”, there is no way for you to set the ISO to a specific setting so you can avoid noisy images when shooting in low light .. it is just one of the compromises camera makers have to make, so their consumers do not complain when they get camera blur when shooting in low light situations and don’t have the skills to know they will be shooting at slow shutter speeds.

The only way to know how good a shot is technically is to view it on a large computer screen. The tiny 2-1/2 inch LCD will only help you determine how well you composed the shot.

Unless the review was done by a professional writer for a photo magazine, you will find that most of the user reviews are plagued by the results of poor technique and a fear of reading the owners manual. Samples are “this camera sucks .. all my pictures are blurry when I don’t use my flash” This is caused of course by camera movement and when shooting indoors under low lighting conditions, the camera will choose a long shutter speed to the image is exposed properly. Most P&S camera shooters cannot hold a camera steady longer that 1/60 of a second. When the shutter speed becomes 1/15th of a second or longer, all bets are off.

Here is one link that may help you.
