nikon f1.8

D60 with 35mm F1.8 AF-S lens?
I understand a large aperture lens could help shooting in low light condition.
i heard large aperture lens like the Nikon 35mm F1.8 is not good for portrait, due to focusing or distortion? Can someone help explaining?
And also wondering how does the Depth of Field can affect the picture quality with a large aperture lens like the 35mm F1.8 (still learning
)
I’m hoping to get this lens so that i can take pictures indoor without use of the flashlight. is this lens adequate?
Thanks!

People use large aperture for portraits ALL the time. They don’t always use 35mm though. At that range it is good for “environmental” that includes more of the surrounding and setting. Longer lens are usually preferred for “headshot” types.

It creates really soft (good) background. Longer lens would create even softer background (given all things are equal).

yes of course. Very good lens. I prefer the cheaper 50mm f1.8 lens (cheaper AND I like the effects even better).
Good luck……..
